Breaking Bad. Simply one of the Best TV shows in the last decade.

In the last two years, Breaking Bad has skyrocketed in popularity, espeically for GEN-Z. I could give you the whole summary of the whole show and say why it's awesome but I'm not going to do that. If you enjoy drama-filled, precsion acting, and action shows, then just watch it please. Walter White played by Bryan Cranston and his "sidekick" Jesse Pinkman played by Aaron Paul were some of the best chracters (and their development) were truly amazing. What's funny to me about this show is that it had very low ratings in its' first 3 seasons but gained massive popularity when season 4 came out in 2012. I will have to agree the first season takes a while to digest and understand the story/chracters but once you are in...you're hooked.

I think one of the most unique things done in movie/film history was the reverse progression of Walter White, our main chracter. Most of the time you see in film is a character go from bad to good but for walter he was a good guy and turned bad. You could see throughout the entire season, the little pieces of the story turn him into his alter ego "heiesnberg".

The clip above I believe is the true turing of White into the drug lord "Hiesenberg". Jane, who was with Jesse tampered with Jesses mind and got in the way of Walters plans to make money. Walter was blackmailed into giving the money to Jane and Jesse but later that evening he went to talk to Jesse but Jane and jeese were passed out from Heroin. In attempt to wake up Jesse, Jane rolls on her back and begins to choke on her vomit. Their was a moment of hesitation with Walter and ultimately did not save Jane when could. Walter didn't tell Jesse until TWO SEASONS later that he actually was the one at fault for her death.

See what I mean? Just watch it :)

Swiss Army Man Takeaways

After the in-class viewing of Swiss Army Man directed by Daniels, my initial reaction is that is a very unique film. Typically, this would not be the type of film I would willingly watch on my own but I do appreciate that I watched it. Hank played by Paul Dano is a phenomenal actor, I've seen his work from The Batman and Manny played by Daniel Radcliffe has been a household name in the industry since he was young. Although Dr.Kyburz told us to take the film at face value, I still tried to see the unlying notions or sequences of the film. I always do that when I watch new films and I definitely need to just learn to take in films as they are. That style of viewing films is derived from the multiple Christopher Nolan films I Had to watch back in high school and complete analysis.  Here's the trailer if you are interested in checking out the film!!  Anyways! Let's get back to talking about Swiss Army Man. Some of the thoughts are on the entire basis of the film. I believe Mann...

Reflection of My Film Project

After spending a few weeks on organizing, planning, filming and then editing this short film my group and I made, I was actually happy with what we made. Everyone in the Group (myself, Ishaan, Francisco, Aidan) seemed to care what kind of product we were putting out. Everyone pulled their weight in this film and contributed enough. The origin of this idea started when Fransisco suggested that we do a crime film are we could not decide originally on the genre. From that point, I came up with the foundational idea about a framed murder that detectives needed to figure out. From that point much of the idea and stylistic choices were made somewhat on the fly. We wanted to make this as organically as possible because we all felt that is where the best movies come from.  On the day we did most of our filming, we shot right on campus in the Basement of Wentz Science Center. Found some great rooms to film our two main settings (Murder site, and Detective Room). Those shots went by really f...

Introductory Post

Over the course of my entire life, I have had my fair share of films that I enjoy immensely. Some of the films I've viewed on repeat include Goodfellas, The Dark Knight, Nightcrawler, Stepbrothers, and Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire). These films are across many genres which I enjoy because I can appreciate all different types of film and interpret it will a broad mindset. However, I do that this list will change within a few months but most of these films will stay at the top of my list because I return to them more often than others.     The reason I am taking this class is because I would love to improve how I can view film and expand my knowledge of other movies. In high school during my senior year english class we watched a handful of films, learned about different camera angles, lighting, etc so I have a bit of comprehension of filming works. Within the North Central Curriculum there is a Art requirement and this is my personal favorite form of art so tha...
